LSE's Cities studio archive



The London School of Economics' (LSE) City Design and Social Science MSc has made the text of three of its research publications available online, each focusing on a particular aspect of urban development. The most recent publication, 'Outer City', focuses on the city fringe, and specifically the East London borough of Barking and Dagenham. 'Housing and the City' looks at the Southwark area, while 'Bankside 123' discusses the Allies and Morrison development behind the Tate Modern.

Glasgow Doors Open Days 2008



A quick reminder, particularly to students new to Glasgow, about this year's Doors Open festival on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September. It's a wonderful opportunity to see inside more than 135 of the city's buildings - for free. You can use the festival's website to plan your visits.

'Building Design' celebrates Scottish architecture



For the first time, the Venice Biennale has a space within its national pavilions for the celebration of Scottish architecture. To mark this, the weekly journal 'Building Design' for September 12, 2008 has a 10-page feature on the country's architecture in which leading critics and architects choose their most emblematic Scottish building, landscape or urban ensemble.
