The Empire Exhibition, Glasgow, 1938

Glasgow School of Art’s Digital Design Studio has just completed an AHRC-funded research project to create a permanent resource for the exploration, research and public exhibition of the Empire Exhibition of 1938 in the context of Scottish and UK social and architectural history. The main output from the project has been the production of well researched and constructed, photo-real, 3D models of the principal buildings and structures that comprised the Exhibition together with accurate 3D mapping. Additionally, video interviews present the opinions of experts in the field of architecture and architectural history as well as the recollections of members of the public who attended the Exhibition in 1938.

Search Google and Yahoo direct from the Library website

Yahoo and Google search boxes have been added to the Online Resources section of the GSA Library website, making it easier to find internet resources that complement Library collections. We have provided a simple search box, with links through the advanced search functions for those carrying out more complex research. Links have also been added to Google's Images, Directory, Blog Search, Books and Scholar to enable full advantage to be taken of Google's suite of services. The Library also has an easy-to-use Google Guide, showing how to achieve better results from Google; there is a link to this Guide next to the Google search box.

Worldwide dissertations and theses

Sourcing dissertations and theses from the UK and further afield can be problematic for researchers - and librarians. To make life a little easier, we've recently expanded and reorganised our web listings of theses catalogues and databases, and have added helpful icons of national flags to show you exactly which countries are covered by each.
